Guarantee tests of a new Russian digitalized steam turbine have been completed at APPM

Guarantee tests of a new turbine unit with a capacity of 60 MW, which will include a digitalized steam turbine PT-60-8,9/1,9, have been successfully completed at the TPP-1 of Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill JSC. The digitalized steam turbine is produced at the Ural Turbine Plant. 

ROTEC supplied the turbine PT-60-8,9/1,9, which belongs to a new generation of units: the two-cylinder turbine is equipped with the latest automatic control system.

With the commissioning of the 60-megawatt turbine unit No. 7, the installed capacity of the first APPM thermal power plant will increase to 182 MW.

Comparing with the previously used hydrogen unit, the new one has air cooling, that is much more fireproof. The turbine is connected to the software and hardware system of predictive analytics and remote monitoring system "PRANA". The system created in ROTEC JSC detects defects 2-3 months before they can lead to an emergency situation. It also makes it possible to monitor the technical condition of the equipment, the actions of operating personnel and contractors, that reduces the cost of its repair.

The speciality of this project is that the power unit modernization was carried out in the operating machine room, between the working turbine units No. 6 and No. 8.

The cost of the main and auxiliary equipment, construction, installation and commissioning works amounted to more than 2 billion roubles.

TPP-1 provides heat and electricity both production facility, and the residential sector of Novodvinsk. The phased renewal of the TPP-1 turbine production facility of APPM is one of the most important objective of the mill technical modernization.

At the moment, the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill has been implementing a program to modernize the energy system of the mill. The first step was the replacement of the turbine unit with a capacity of 60 MW at TPP-1. At the second stage, it is planned to replace the turbine unit No. 6 with a capacity of 30 MW.
