APPM and regional educational institutions introduce a new model of the professional training system

30 nov 2021

Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill JSC, Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov (NArFU) and State Autonomous Educational Institution of Professional Education of the Arkhangelsk region "Novodvinsk Industrial College" (NIC) signed an Agreement on continuous professional education. One of the basic elements of the new model became the advantage for the graduates of the Industrial College for the right to study at NARFU under shortened programs. In addition, they will not have to take the Unified State Exam. It will be replaced by an exam in a specialized subject, for which a graduate will be prepared according to an individual program.

At this stage, the management of NArFU and NIC compare curricula, discuss the organizational aspects of training in shortened programs. But it is already known that among the students of the Industrial College there are those who would like to continue their professional education at the University.

In this agreement Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill acts as a strategic partner for these Educational Institutions, as well as a guarantor of employment of the graduates for specialized positions at the Mill.

The Mill and NIC also announced new joint educational programs.

On the same day, the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill and NArFU extended the Agreement on Cooperation and Partnership, which was signed in 2007, when a specialized department was created directly at the mill for the first time in the pulp and paper industry of Russia.

Speaking about the continuous training as the main trend in the education of the future - the concept of lifelong learning, Dmitry Zylev, General Director of APPM, emphasized the relevance of constantly upgrading the competencies of employees. “We regularly interact with NIС and NArFU, place an order for the training of specialists,” said the company's top manager. - But we also understand that it is not possible to train a highly qualified specialist in two or three years, it takes ten years. The agreement, which we have been working towards for so long, will help us get the personnel we need in a shorter time.”

NArFU Rector Elena Kudryashova, in turn, underlined that higher education is ready to support its partners in everything for their production activities. According to her, the University is ready to restructure its educational programs in the interests of vocational education and employers: “We have had an important historical event - this is the first example of signing such an agreement in the region,” the Rector of NArFU evaluated the Agreement.

Oleg Rusinov, Minister of Education of the Arkhangelsk Region, who was present at the signing also noted the importance of the document. According to him, the region now needs not only highly qualified, but also in-demand personnel. “The real sector of the economy should contribute to the education management system. Such cooperation will give us the opportunity to realize practice-oriented training, hold examinations at the right level and, in the end, employ graduates. We are now successfully moving towards these goals,” the head of the regional Ministry of Education concluded.
